Spring 2005 Organizational Faux Pas
An Extranet is simply an Intranet that can be accessed from the outside world. You decide which select members of the outside world, such as customers, clients, vendors, members, suppliers, and staff can access your extranet.
Paper, Paper Everywhere, and No Time to Spare: Spring Cleaning ESI Style 1. If you are not ready to commit to an intranet or an extranet, there are still ways to save time and money using your web functionality. Do you have so many requests coming through your front office that you can’t keep up? Start directing more people to use your online form to send in their requests. When people use your form everybody has a record of what the request was, and your traffic manager has a much easier time delegating, and prioritizing. 2. Eliminate the time you and your employees spend answering the same question by putting an FAQ page on your website. Once people know you have a comprehensive FAQ on your site they will check it before picking up the phone. Does your company have an exciting event coming up in the warmer months? Make an announcement on your homepage, with dates, times and other pertinent information that people might need. 3. Put important forms, applications and other paperwork online as PDF's so your clients and prospects can download and print them as needed. Also, have your brochure or other marketing materials available online to cut down on postage and paper use.

Call us if you need help! 2. Strong Internet passwords are usually short strings of numbers, letters and symbols that have meaning to you but no one else. Dates and words that can be found in the dictionary are bad passwords. Create some that work for you and change them every other month. Click here to get a free password tracking sheet! Fill in the blanks by hand then put it in a safe place away from your computer. DO NOT fill it in and save it on your computer.
